KAGUYU, KIRINYAGA COUNTY — A somber mood has engulfed Kaguyu Sub-location in Kerugoya Ward following the deaths and subsequent burials of two respected community members within a span of just 24 hours.
On Tuesday, May 6, family, friends, and neighbors gathered to bid farewell to the late Mr. Kennedy Mutugi Kinyua, a former taxi driver remembered for his humility and service to the community. The funeral service was led by Pastor Benard Munyi of the Full Gospel Churches of Kenya, Kiaritha branch.
Political leaders were also present, with Nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) Mr. Bosco offering his condolences to the family. He assured them of his unwavering support during this difficult time.

Barely a day later, on Wednesday, May 7, the grounds of P.C.E.A Githioro Church were filled to capacity as mourners attended the funeral service of Mr. Johnson Muthii Ngiabi. The ceremony was marked by touching tributes and a strong show of community unity.
Area MCA Hon Eric Muchina, who attended the burial, pledged to continue supporting church development initiatives just like "Johso" used to. He also promised to help secure employment for one of the late Muthii’s daughters, who has trained as a plumber. In his address, Mr. Muchina highlighted his ongoing development agenda, including the construction of tea buying centers, the repair of the Miringa-ini–Kiawakara road which is underway, and the grading of the Kiaritha–Kibingo feeder road — an area that has proven difficult for motorists to navigate.

Both Kennedy and Johnson were hailed as devout Christians with a strong sense of community leadership. They were praised not only for their spiritual commitment but also for their political influence and dedication to public service in their respective areas.
The two men leave behind grieving families, including their wives, children, and grandchildren, and a community struggling to come to terms with the sudden losses.
