Travel Tuesdays by Kinana Munene: Reporting from Abai Lodge, Kagio 4th November 2025 A regional coffee stakeholders’ forum on the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) was held at Abai Lodge, Kagio, bringing together industry players, government representatives, and trade partners in a robust dialogue on compliance, sustainability, and market access for Kenyan coffee. The event was jointly hosted by TradeMark Africa, SIDA, and the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI). The forum, moderated by Fridah from Brixton alongside Rose Mukami from KNCCI, provided a platform for key voices in the coffee value chain to address the implications of EUDR on regional and national levels. NEWS BRIEF: Lorry Plunges into Culvert Along Kerugoya-Karatina Highway

Kirinyaga County –  By Kinana Munene  A tragic road accident occurred this morning along the   Kerugoya-Karatina highway   near the   KPLC substation in the Karina area , after a lorry reportedly lost steering control and veered off the road into a nearby culvert. Eyewitnesses say the driver appeared to struggle with the vehicle moments before it plunged into the ditch. Emergency services rushed to the scene, and survivors were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. The number of casualties is yet to be confirmed by authorities. Traffic police have since cordoned off the area and launched investigations into the cause of the accident. Jeff Muchai Mwaniki candle lighting vigil By Kinana Munene | Travel Tuesdays News | June 22, 2025 A somber evening unfolded at the Bingwa Sacco headquarters parking lot in Kerugoya town, as friends, former schoolmates, and community members gathered for a candlelight vigil in honour of the late Jeff Muchai Mwaniki , a promising young Lawyer who passed away on June 13, 2025 after a prolonged illness that began in November 2024 . The emotionally charged vigil, held on Sunday evening , was led by university comrades, family, and staff of Bingwa Sacco, where the late Muchai had briefly served before his illness. Attendees lit candles and shared heartfelt tributes, memories, and prayers under the chilly Kerugoya skies, creating a touching send-off for a youth many described as brilliant, courageous, and full of life .
