An art book by Mr. Philip Muchiri, a 74-year-old CBC teacher

"On My Way Home" is an artbook by Mr. Philip Muchiri, a 74-year-old CBC (Competency-Based Curriculum) teacher residing in Kerugoya, Kenya. This art book encapsulates details he observed while commuting from school on Bagleys Lane SW6 to his home at 72 Chelverton SW15, London. His journey was a canvas of inspiration, documenting textures, writings, and impressions he gathered from the train, buses, shops, and streets.

Mr. Muchiri, who refers to his London address as a "learning community," proudly showcases his library card as a testament to his lifelong pursuit of knowledge. With 50 years of experience, his first artwork, crafted from maize cobs in 1974, began a long and creative career. Armed with a Foundation Certificate and a Higher National Diploma, he has devoted his life to art and education.

His primary objective as a teacher is to instill in children the art of observation—teaching them to understand and appreciate lines, surfaces, colors, and shapes rather than merely looking. To further his mission, Mr. Muchiri has written to the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, proposing his contributions to the CBC.

Describing the CBC as "physical work," Mr. Muchiri has spent two years in the classroom, blending art and education. Currently, he engages in recycling projects, turning old carrying bags into ropes, braids, and other creative artworks. His passion for both teaching and art continues to inspire a generation of learners to see the world through a more thoughtful and artistic lens.
